Why we chose this
Comporta has been called the next Ibiza for a decade now, and it still has not happened — which is exactly the point. The Hillside Cabin sits in the rice paddies behind the dunes, a timber-framed structure that feels more Pacific Northwest than Alentejo. In a good way.
What to expect
Floor-to-ceiling glass, a deck facing the marshes, and a ten-minute bike ride to one of the best beaches in Europe. The design is pared back and warm — wood, linen, concrete. No pool; the ocean is close enough.
Best for
Design-conscious travellers who want beach time without a resort. Works well as a solo retreat or for couples.
