Why we chose this
Whitby has no shortage of places to stay, but most of them feel interchangeable. The Engine Shed is different — a converted railway building that leans into its industrial past without making it precious. Steel, timber, and glass in the right proportions.
What to expect
Open-plan living with sea views. The conversion kept the scale of the original building, so everything feels bigger than it needs to be. The harbour is a ten-minute walk. Fish and chips at the Magpie is a fifteen-minute queue but worth it.
Best for
Couples and small families who want a coastal weekend with more character than a holiday cottage.
